New Library System: PRIMO

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Changes for 2025:
Last year, in conjunction with OhioLINK, the College of Wooster Libraries began work on a migration to a new library services platform that will culminate in a newly revamped search tool currently targeted for debut to its users this summer.
 

Why is this happening?
The library services platform migration project was initiated in 2023 by a statewide RFP coordinated by the OhioLINK academic library consortium and will affect all of its 117 member libraries. This is the first major software overhaul of its kind to be performed in over twenty-five years.
 

What will be affected?
The platform migration will directly affect the tools now known as SUMMON, CONSORT, the OhioLINK catalog, and the SearchOhio catalog. Resources currently searched for within these separate platforms will coalesce under a single interface called PRIMO. All content- and title-level searches for all formats will begin with PRIMO, which can be filtered to direct you to the most efficient access. PRIMO will also serve as the resource to monitor your library account.


Who will this affect?
The migration will affect all College of Wooster faculty, student, and staff library users. Your current College of Wooster credentials will serve as the primary means for accessing and requesting resources.
 

When will this happen?
The “go-live” date is June 27, 2025. The library will continue to share updates on the progress of this project and will provide more details as they become available. Related training will be delivered and feedback solicited as we approach this summer’s deadline. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting event as it develops.

IMPORTANT DATES

Friday, May 23, 2025 - Friday, June 27, 2025

  • OhioLINK/SearchOhio Freeze
    • OhioLINK and SearchOhio circulation freeze begins at 5pm.
      • OhioLINK and SearchOhio catalogs will still be accessible during this time as Read-Only.
      • OhioLINK and SearchOhio “Request” buttons will disappear from these platforms during this time.
      • OhioLINK and SearchOhio links will be removed from the College of Wooster Libraries’ web site.
      • OhioLINK and SearchOhio items will not be available for requests nor eligible for renewals.
      • OhioLINK and SearchOhio items must be returned by their Due Dates, no extensions.
      • Automated emails and notices from OhioLINK and SearchOhio, such as due date reminders and overdue notices, will continue as normal.
  • CONSORT
    • CONSORT and MyCONSORT services will continue through Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
      • This includes the requesting and borrowing of local College of Wooster materials. 
      • CONSORT items, including Wooster owned items, remain requestable and available for checkout.

Tuesday, June 10, 2025 - Friday, June 27, 2025

  • CONSORT Freeze
    • CONSORT and MyCONSORT services will no longer be in service. 
      • The CONSORT, OhioLINK, and SearchOhio catalogs will be accessible as Read-Only. Users will not have the ability to request any items, including local College of Wooster items. 
      • There will be a pause in receiving notifications of checkouts/returns on the patron’s account.
      • Library users may contact circulation@wooster.edu at any time to inquire about the status of their account and materials
      • Renewals for CONSORT items will no longer be available and must be returned by their due date.
    • Period of limited borrowing of College of Wooster materials begins to end on "go live" date.
      • All Circulation activity will be processed and tracked manually by our Circulation Department.
      • Newly borrowed or returned items will not be reflected accurately within MyCONSORT.

Friday, June 27, 2025

  • PRIMO Go Live Date and CONSORT Retirement
    • Primo will officially launch and replace all previous catalog systems and Summon on this date.
    • Both the CONSORT local catalog and Summon discovery interface will be replaced by Primo, a single search interface for all College of Wooster and OhioLINK collections. (SearchOhio will not be available until October 2025)
    • Library staff will be working on making updates to LibGuides and the library website.
    • Staff will also be working on instructions and directions for navigating the new systems and will be available to provide guidance to faculty on link updates.
    • OhioLINK lending and borrowing resumes

October 2025 (Tentative)
SearchOhio requesting and borrowing resumes.
