SEARCH STRATEGY

NARROW YOUR TOPIC

Key Words

•Use AND between key words to narrow your topics

Example:  Searching just INDIGENOUS will bring up all entries that contain INDIGENOUS.

Searching INDIGENOUS and NORTH AMERICA will bring up only those entries on INDIGENOUS that deal with NORTH AMERICA.

If you search,  INDIGENOUS and NORTH AMERICA and LAND the results will bring up only those entries that deal with all three variables--INDIGENOUS, NORTH AMERICA, LAND.

•Also, you can use * to allow for all extensions of a Key Word.

Example: MEMOR* will bring up MEMORIAL, MEMORIALS, MEMORY

By FORMAT, LANGUAGE, LOCATION, DATE OF PUBLICATION

•In CONSORT you can go to the top tool bar to MODIFY SEARCH

•if you are only want INTERNET RESOURCES, click on that option in the COMPUTER FILE box OR  you can limit your search to WOO ONLINE in the LOCATION box

•look at other option boxes, to further refine your results by language or year of publication.
