U.S. Congressional Serial Set Finding List: Annual Reports, Office of Experiment Stations (A 10.1/2:)

The Office of Experiment Stations was established within the Department of Agriculture in 1888. These stations, connected to agricultural colleges in various states, were required to send to their respective state governors annual statements of receipts and expenditures as well as of work accomplished. These reports were then to be transmitted to the Secretary of Agriculture. In 1894, the law established that these annual reports were to be submitted to Congress. The first annual report, from 1895, was not published in the Serial Set, but subsequent years were published as Senate or House documents and printed in Serial Set volumes. (Andriot 8, Checklist 227)
