U.S. Congressional Serial Set Finding List: Air Force Register (D 303.7:)

Air Force Register (D 303.7:)

Although the American air forces were under the supervision of the Department of the Army up through World War II, when the new Department of Defense was created in 1949, a separate Department of the Air Force was established under the supervision of the Secretary of Defense. A listing of Air Force officers was briefly included in the Army Register (called the Army and Air Force Register for a few years in the 1940s) but became a separate publication from the Administrative Services Directorate of the Air Force beginning in 1951. This annual publication includes lists of both active and retired Air Force service personnel. (Andriot 282)
