In 1930, the new Veterans Administration was created to take over the role played by the former Veterans Bureau as well as to consolidate activities performed by other agencies in administering laws providing benefits for veterans. The annual reports began publication in 1931 and covered such programs as medical care, pensions, vocational rehabilitation, loans and grants, and insurance for veterans. The VA was renamed the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1988. (Andriot 750)
