The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was created in 1965 to monitor compliance with and enforce the newly established equal employment opportunity laws. The Commission also provides educational information on these laws and gathers statistics on the employment of women, minorities, and persons with disabilities in the United States. (Andriot 811)
