U.S. Congressional Serial Set Finding List: Annual Reports, General Accounting Office (GA 1.1:)

The General Accounting Office was created in 1921 by the Budget and Accounting Act. In its role as an independent investigative agency, the GAO has had a long history of studying how the government spends its money and recommending changes to programs and expenditures to make the best use of those funds. The annual reports of the Comptroller General, head of the General Accounting Office, date from 1922. (Andriot 364)
