U.S. Congressional Serial Set Finding List: Annual Reports, Secretary of the Interior (I 1.1:)

The Department of the Interior was created in 1849 and became the home for several agencies from other departments: the Patent Office and the Census Office from the State Department; the General Land Office, from Treasury; the Indian Affairs Office, from War; and the Pension Office, from War and Navy. In time, other agencies were added to Interior, many dealing with the exploration and management of America's lands. The Secretary's annual report started in 1849 and eventually included annual reports from some of the other Interior agencies:

These titles have their own finding lists, which cover the years when these series were published as part of the Secretary's annual report as well as when they were published separately. (Andriot 469, Checklist 426-432)
